The Future Owner of FaZe Clan Aims to Manage Disgruntled Talent

GameSquare to Buy FaZe Clan at Discount, Plans to Put Vocal Critic in Charge

The future owner of FaZe Clan is making bold moves to revamp the embattled esports and influencer brand. GameSquare, a marketing and gaming company, is set to acquire FaZe at a significant discount from its previous valuation of $725 million. One of GameSquare’s first tasks will be to address the internal turmoil within FaZe, as several of its top influencers have publicly criticized the company.

Nordan “FaZe Rain” Shat and Richard “FaZe Banks” Bengtson are among the influencers who have voiced their frustrations with FaZe’s leadership and decisions. Rather than silencing these critics, GameSquare plans to put Bengtson in charge of the company as the new CEO. This move aims to align the company’s leadership with its founding influencers and regain their trust.

Despite the endorsement from talent, FaZe faces significant challenges in turning its business around. The company’s revenue has declined, leading to layoffs and a threat of delisting from Nasdaq. GameSquare anticipates cost savings through streamlining operations and cutting expenses post-merger.

To diversify FaZe’s revenue streams, GameSquare plans to leverage its intellectual property through licensing deals and consumer products. The company also aims to monetize other talent within FaZe’s roster of esports and gaming professionals. By tapping into existing brand partnerships and expanding its creator base, GameSquare hopes to drive profitability for FaZe in the future.

While the road ahead may be tough, GameSquare CEO Justin Kenna is focused on de-risking the transition and working closely with FaZe’s founders to re-engage the audience and strengthen the brand. With a strategic plan in place, GameSquare is determined to reshape FaZe Clan and secure its position in the competitive esports and influencer landscape.
